    Bobcat Territories

What is the deal with Bobcat's territory game. I own a business. I have plenty of competition. It's good business to have competition. If I told one of my long time customers that I couldn't sell to them because their territory had been claimed by another dealer, he'd be understandably pissed...

    carrying fuel

Do you have a hazmat endorsement on your CDL? Anything over 119 gallons requires placarding..... They take this way serious, too. It's some sort of blowing up buildings thing.

    Okay... now what?

What are we offering people? The fact is, there really isn't a lot here to make a casual surfer come back. Sorry fellas, but I'm not one to pull punches. We can't prey on an established community, we need to build one. Well, with my limited life experience, I've found three things that...

    Jobsite stories

I just remembered an incident from when I was about 10. I always worked for my father's construction company in the summers. Well, this particular year one of the projects was a garage for a classic car collector. To say the jobsite was crowded is an understatement. Anyway, we had to put in...

    Jobsite stories

S250, It's not bad news, it's just that 864's purpose in life is to serve as a warning to others....... Really, I have a great deal of respect for 864 and the way he uses his equipment. He jumps into a project with both feet. He's able to finish a job while others are still standing there...

    Jobsite stories

Had 864wood ( code name “Master of Disaster”) done that job with a wheeled machine, he would have been down to the basement footings. Don't let him fool you, he's been stuck more than once. He's just being shy. S250, I had my 580SL long before I had a Bobcat. I couldn't live without it...

    Wish I had tracks

500K, My biggest concern with the backhoe would have been that the wall below me was new. Doing it with the backhoe, I would have pulled the spoils further up the hill with the hoe, and them scooped and removed. This was definitely one of those jobs that could be done faster with the T300...

Does anyone have any jobsite horror stories we could all learn from?

    Wish I had tracks

I should mention, the homeowner called the backhoe operator to come back and do what I did and he said “you gotta be kidding”. I have to agree with that guy. There's NO WAY I would have put my backhoe on that hill. Really makes you wonder what the guy was thinking when he piled all his spoils...

    Wish I had tracks

I did a job Sunday that I would have walked away from with my S185. Had I been smart, I probably would have walked away anyhow. A flat had been carved in the side of a mountain with a backhoe. A Balcon retaining wall was placed at the back side of the flat and backfilled. All was good...

Trailers? Whats the favorite and reasons why?

There are a few things I want when looking for a trailer. Flat deck - I want the deck to be above the tires. This makes it very convenient to fork pallets on and off and allows you to put the forked load over the axles Pintel hook - I prefer the pintel hook when I'm by myself. This allows you...

Spreading a thin layer of soil

    Hmmmm.

    Tunnel under sidewalks

I gave the auger some thought also. My concern with that was the bit doesn't fit tight on the shaft. It has a good bit of movement side to side. Ripping out is always an option, but you usually hear “but I just had that damn walkway put in.” I guess you really can't go wrong with a bullet...

Spreading a thin layer of soil

I often find myself needing to spread a thin even layer of good topsoil over the splendid Maryland clay in my area. What is the best attachment / method for getting a precise layer. Currently, I just use my bucket. There has to be a quicker, more precise method.

    Backhoe attachment; good or bad?

So what's the verdict 864? What was the final cost? Does it perform as advertised? Is the extra weight an issue with your tow rig? Is it difficult to cut a level trench? Will your wife be able to use it to dig your grave when she finds out? Does it require a lot of extra concentration to...
