    OTT tracks

I removed the tracks and grading is so much better. The tracks raised the height, so bucket was always tilted down at slight angle. Tracks are off, bucket rides flat. Actually less damage to the ground without the tracks. Thought I'd update with the progress.

    6635 lift cylinder collapsed length

New rod arrived. Its 1/2" shorter than the rod that is installed now. I installed it and boom drops to hard stops on both sides now. Not sure where the longer rod came from, but it's fixed now. Grading is much improved! Thanks for all the suggestions.

    7800SL Hi/low selector

My 6635 has the 2-speed and it's a solenoid that clicks to reroute the hyd path for the drive motors. Look online and see if there is a parts manual available. I know it helped me figure out things with my 6635. For a supplier for the GEHL, I use German Bliss, they stock a ton of Gehl parts and...

    OTT tracks

I have a 6635 with the rubber-pad OTT tracks, although this could be any skid. Adding these OTT tracks raise the tires about 1.5"-2" in height off the ground, because of the thickness of the track, pad etc. With the machine sitting higher, it raises the bucket lower edge the same height when...

    Gehl 5635

I have a 6635, it too is oil-cooled engine that shares a cooler with the hydraulics. I agree with above post, there is a plastic fan and a fan shroud that hugs the rear oil cooler. See if the blades are broken of any other reason it may not be spinning with the engine running. Did you notice...

    6635 lift cylinder collapsed length

I did call around and found a place that can do it. In the mean timeI also called a Gehl parts supplier and they confirmed the length on the longer rod is 1/2" too long. Not sure who installed it, but it's wrong. Anyway, I found a new one for a decent price, so ordered it. By the time I drop it...

    6635 lift cylinder collapsed length

Thanks for the suggestion, but the collar won't work, because it would have to be put on the correct length cylinder side that actually hits the hard-stop on the boom now. The collar would then limit the closed length, which would then match the 1/2" too-long side...but then both sides of the...

    6635 lift cylinder collapsed length

Actually, they both do retract fully, which is how I know one is 1/2" shorter. It will twist the boom where one side hits the stop and other side has a gap. My guess is the rod was replaced with the wrong length. Being hardened, can I have 1/2" cut off the threaded end and have the threads...

    6635 lift cylinder collapsed length

I have an issue where I've narrowed it down to one cylinder is 1/2" shorter than other cylinder. This is keeping the boom from resting against the solid stop on one side, tilting my bucket. I pulled apart the longer cylinder, thinking the nut may have backed off the rod, it had not. I'm now...

Timing belt maintainence on Gehl 5635

I did my 6635, which is a 1999 with the Duetz engine. I bought the timing belt kit that came with the gauge needed for tension all for around $125 if I recall. It may have been Ebay...don't recall. Mine had 2600 hr's on it when I did the change. Alright...plan to get dirty. The biggest mess was...

    Gehl 6635SXT no hydraulics

Finally had a chance to update: After more dis-assembly on Sunday, found it is actually one of the shaft couplings between the 2 tandem servo's. It's a fine-pitch coupling & the splines are wore flat. So it's a $35 part, but took some disassembly to get to it. Gehl # 123114 COUPLER. Much better...

    Gehl 6635SXT no hydraulics

Todays update: Pulled the hydraulic gear pump & disassembled. Looks fantastic inside. So convinced it's not the hydraulic gear pump. Something else I did while I had the pump apart. I re-inserted the gear spline shaft back into the tandem-pump (where it usually goes when pump is re-assembled). I...

    Gehl 6635SXT no hydraulics

While moving a light load of dirt, heard a snap/clank, then nothing. No hydraulics to lift/tilt or drive functions. Engine runs, just no hydraulics. It's dead in the field. I'm guessing the gear-pump failed, but only a guess based on reading. Hydraulic level is good, clean fluid, filter was...
