    Mustang 545 Starter Issue

Well still acting up a bit. What type or size of relay would I wire in at the starter and where? Since there is only one large positive wire going to starter, I guess it would go there? Thanks

    Mustang 545 Starter Issue

Thanks for your replies. I worked on it last night and think I found the problem(s). Loose and rusted ground wires. Oddly enough this also solved the intermittent lighting problem I have been having. Some time just need someone to tell you to start at the basics.

    Mustang 545 Starter Issue

I have an intermittent problem while trying to start my 545. It has a Perkins 4.154 Diesel engine. Occasionally when I turn the key to start, all I get is a clicking sound at the starter. If I turn the key off and on multiple times, I will often get the starter to engage and it will fire right...

    please help!

Just looked at date of this post! Looks like I wasted 10 mins of my morning. Not sure why this popped up on my forum board. Well anyway maybe someone else is still having issues with a 441.

    please help!

I had Mustang 441 with same Perkins diesel motor for several years. Never burned much oil but was always slow to start when cold. I messed around with the glow plugs for awhile but never seemed to help start her. I live in MN so anytime below 40-50 degrees I plugged the block heater in for a few...

    Water in Hydraulic Oil

Thanks for the information. No significant leaks like yours but thought it was strange to have enough pressure when not running to push whole machine up onto its back end. Something else to work on after correcting major water in oil problem. Maybe time to shell out $80,000 for a brand new...

Thanks again. I would be very surprised if someone else has running 545. I haven’t been able to find one yet! Been looking for 2 years.

    Water in Hydraulic Oil

Thanks for all the info. No I have not taken anything like that apart before. Where would I start? Anything I should know before I would tackle this?

    Water in Hydraulic Oil

Thanks for the pictures. That is a nice set up. Do you use the same type of filter for oil? I have those on my fuel barrels. Also what is the brass housing with the clamp lid? Is there another cartridge filter in there? Yes there was/is quite a bit of water in the oil. At the filter when it...

    Water in Hydraulic Oil

Another thing that I remember is when it gets super cold out, the bucket tilt goes down, pushing the whole skid loader into a “wheelie” position. This happens slowly over time when it is not running. It doesn’t always do it either, especially if the filter blows out first I guess! Could this be...

    Water in Hydraulic Oil

Also I looked on internet and Goldenrod has lots of coalescing fuel filters but I couldn’t find any specific to oil. Could you send me the specifics on your set up? Thanks for helping me out!

    Water in Hydraulic Oil

Hello, recommended hydraulic oil for this machine is ATF. That’s what has always been in it. Would the oil you use be a better choice? What type/kind/brand of pump do you use to move the oil through the filters? Thanks for your advice so far!
