I bought my NH LS170 new in 2005. Except for a seat belt problem in 2014, which a dealer in WV screwed up but my local dealer in NJ quickly and inexpensively repaired, I've had no problems. As long as you're not looking for a very powerful skid steer, I recommend my 54hp machine.

I am getting ready to buy a new New Holland skid steer with hand-only controls since my legs are bothering me at my age. I was watching a youtube video and saw a factory with employees holding both a New Holland banner and a Case banner. Does that mean they are basically the same skid steer now...

I think that you need to go with a brand that has a sales/service facility near by. For me it was New Holland, which is closest. They've always responded to any questions I've had and we've formed a great relationship. I bought an LS170 wheel machine, then I bought aftermarket MacLaren tracks...

Mike: You were right. My guys kept overlooking the grease fittings for the latches. The problem has been corrected.

One of the two latches that lock in the attachments on my 2005 LS170 has been getting harder to lock down lately and now it completely won't lock down, even if I have no attachment on it. I've checked my owner's manual and the internet with no luck. I assume that spring that slightly protrudes...

I haven't had any difficulty drilling holes in West Virginia karst rock with the McMillen. The rock bits are great for eating through our tough rock.

Does any company manufacture and/or sell a leaf shredder for a skid steer? I really need an alternative to engine-mounted chipper/shredders, which are trash in a few years.

Thanks so much Mike for your detailed help. I will be on the phone with the dealer first thing in the morning. His mechanic will be out to my place later in the week to replace a defective part at no charge, so hopefully they can fix the brake then. Thanks again.

The parking brake is a lever on the right side. I scoured the owner's manual and could not find anything about adjusting the parking brake. I will call the service department Tuesday and suggest your solution. Thanks for both your replies. I will let you know how I make out with the dealer.
