743 hydraulic fluid pressure switch and coolant sender disconnected

There ya go, you're posting pictures! Another thing I've had to do manually is use the line break code {BR} to add a bit of format to my posts. I'm sure there is a setting somewhere that makes this unnecessary but I haven't found it. As for the temp gauge, the one in our 443B was stuck, the...

743 hydraulic fluid pressure switch and coolant sender disconnected

Hope you get it figured out, It's always good to see other peoples pictures of what they are working on. Post up a picture of what you think is the broken off temperature sender, if you can. Good luck!

743 hydraulic fluid pressure switch and coolant sender disconnected

Ed, for posting pictures try pasting the html code for {img src="your-Picture-link-here">} into your text. Use <> instead of {} in the example. I copy the image html code from my Flicker site and then edit it to remove all the extra formating so that it just has the img src= section and then...

Was there a fuel gauge in a 443B

Bobcat wants $31, which isn't that bad, but it's the usual two week wait for the order to come in. But if the dealer one is the same as the original and it's going to fog over the Kelch/BlueSky one might be better. I am going to check a couple of the local marine dealers to see what they have...

Was there a fuel gauge in a 443B

Thanks OldMachinist, I appreciate the time and effort to take the measurements and post the links. I will check the cap diameter and threads, but that looks like the right part.

Was there a fuel gauge in a 443B

Thanks OldMachinist. If you still have the mechanical gauge cap, could you tell me how long it is? There are some 9" long gauge caps on ebay that might work if they are not to short.

Was there a fuel gauge in a 443B

Ya, thought about using a stick, but then that increases the chance of dust and dirt in the fuel. We've just been topping up the tank every time it's used. A gas gauge is a luxury... but it still would be nice to have one, even if it were just one of the $15 mechanical ones from ebay.

Was there a fuel gauge in a 443B

Currently there is no fuel gauge in our 443B. The manual for the 440/443 shows an illustration of mechanical gauge in the right side fuel tank cap. Maybe a previous owner removed this or maybe it never had a gauge. Previously I had the plastic panel holding the voltage and temperature gauges...

743 positive battery cable to ground

Before you do anything, first figure out exactly which Delco you have, what "Clocking" it has, and if the pulley and pulley spacers are special to that model bobcat. You likely have an AC Delco 10SI. Since you're not driving a Cadillac or motorhome you likely only have a 37 Amp alternator. You...

743 positive battery cable to ground

If the large Red alternator wire had been disconnected by the previous owner, there likely was a reason they did this. If it was mine I would pull the alternator and have a shop test it. Even some of the auto parts stores have those little alternator and starter test stations. There are no fuses...

743 positive battery cable to ground

Does the 743 have a volt meter in the cab? Our little 443B only has a temp gauge and a voltage gauge. If the polarity were reversed that gauge should have been peg'd to the bottom. Was it reading 12 to 14V?

743 positive battery cable to ground

As I understand, Series Wound starter motors will always spin the same direction with forward or reverse polarity. It's the relationship of the field polarity to the rotor polarity that determines the rotation. This is why winch motors use four solenoids to flip the field when changing...

743 positive battery cable to ground

Actual reverse polarity hooked up to any vehicle designed for a negative ground will fry the alternator and any other electronics that contain solid state components (transistors & diodes). Is it possible someone converted this machine to a positive ground? Not very likely. Although I have not...

    Pivot Pins 443B

Thanks OldMachinist. Using dial gauges makes perfect sence. I’ll have to remember that technique. Easy, once someone shows you how. It’s always good to learn something new. It also makes sence that Bobcat would use a 1.5” per foot taper because then they could use the tooling and reamers the...

    Pivot Pins 443B

Does Bobcat use a standard taper? My measurements which are somewhat questionable give an angle of approximatly 3.4-3.5 degrees. Is there an inch per foot specification? Did they copy one of the machine tool spec's?
