According to the 863 manual, you should be able to remove the fan plenum then access the motor mounts from the inside. The pump and motor are designed to come out in one unit with a lifting bracket that you make yourself out of 1-1/2 inch square tubing and some angle iron.

I also had the tank half full problem and it turned out to be a hole in the squeeze bulb. As long as the tank was full it ran fine but when I got down to half a tank I started have fuel supply problems.

Thanks for the tip. I will probably use the steel line too. The original line broke off at the 90 under the grommet. Probably got brittle over time as plastic fuel lines tend to do.

I rented the tools from the company that sold me the timing belt. It was all pretty reasonable. I did have an issue with an allen wrench bolt that was set in a recess in the cover and it stripped out so I had to drill it out. It did not hold back any liquids so I didn't replace it.
