    Standard controls or joystick

Stick with a Cat skid steer, proven pilot controls for 12+ years. I'm using a rental S185 and absolutley HATE it, my hands, knuckles, knees, ankles, arms and feet are sore from the stone age control system.

    TL130 tracking issue

Maybe a bit late to this but.....Takeuchi has a neat little V notch in the pilot for the travel, keep pushing forward and the pilot control will slide into the notch. You may have been inadvertently pushing it straight to the left, I made that mistake the first 2 minutes I tried a TL130.

Which brand of track loader is the best for me?

ROC is Rated Operating Capacity, these track loaders are rated for 35% of their tipping load and the wheeled models are for 50%, the tracks just basically give a longer wheel base which gives you more ROC. The Cat 257 is 1900 lbs Takeuchi TL130 1600 lbs TL140 2200 lbs and the TL150 is 3000+...

Which brand of track loader is the best for me?

There is no way to compare the Cat 257B to a Takeuchi TL140/150, they are bigger in horsepowers. The Cat has 60 and the TL140 has 80 hp. Operating ROC might be close, but the weights of both machines vary. A fair comparison would be the TL130 and Cat 257, but the Takeuchi would still win in...

Which brand of track loader is the best for me?

Takeuchi, having owned a TL130 it will pick up more than you think, the ground pressure is about the same as the rest of the crowd with the exception of Cat's MTL's. I've also owned a Cat 247B2 and I did like the undercarriage for it's low psi and traction, but those Cat's need to have the...

    TL130

Sounds like you got a stuck valve on the aux side.

CAT 232b Aux Hyd Continous Flow

Hold the roller up/down and press and hold one of the buttons on the left joystick and slowly release the roller. If that doesn't work, you might need a bypass switch as hydraulics won't work unless you are in the cab, you could try putting an 80 pound brick on the seat with the seat bar down...

    Takeuchi TL140 A/C recharge

Look in the engine area next to the compressor.

    Cat 257 replacement tracks

OEM's are the only way to go, I've heard too many bad things about outside companies, the worst one was from our Cat dealer 2 years ago, brand new set on a Cat 277C from an outside companies, 50 hours later the tracks are absolutely ripped and torn, they were using metal inside the tracks, ASV...

    TL 130

I'm a bit late to this thread, but whatever, I came off a 4 day job running a rental TL130 (I dumped all my equipment on the RB Auction May25th) and I really have to say these Takeuchi's are the best skid steer you will get, no frill, no jack ass electronics, just simple and powerfull. The...

Anyone like to comment on overall best Skidsteer

Takeuchi for the CTL category, and Cat C Series or B3 Series for the rubber tire category, I like Takeuchi's pilots and cab and brute power and build quality, but Cat is quiter, really easy to service and Cat yellow looks damn sexy.

    Newb needs advice QWUICK!!!!!! please

Stay away from Dominions, they are a mish mash of rubbers from different countries. Go get a set of Mclaren Next Gen TDF's, very smooth ride (multi-bar tread pattern) and they seem to wear slower and from what I am reading, they are better in snow. I've got just over 60 hours on my Tl130 set and...

    Cat 226

Measure from the ball joits with the door completley open and go to a UAP/NAPA store, they might have the ball joints already in the sockets.

    Replacement tracks

I bought new Mclarens Next Gen TDF's for my TL130, and I really love them, so much smoother and better traction, I've only got 50 hours on them, the only downside it going over pavement, go really fast and take a slight turn and they will run off, I've had that happen 2 times and stopped and...

    Seatbar Mod

You can rig up a bender with a set of chains and a ratcheting turnbuckle to bend it forward, my 753 had this done after I installed the deluxe seat, and my gut hit the seat bar, so they bent ot forward doing the chain and turnbuckel idea. It should bend right where the contact pads make contact...
