7753 Drive Belt "Squeal"

Hi guys, First off, I'm fairly new to skid steers. When I was using my 1994 Bobcat 7753 this weekend I noticed that there was a squealing sound coming from the lower left side of the skid loader. The squealing sound only happens when it's under load or make quick turns. Again, I believe it's the drive belt. I haven't torn into it yet. Does this sound like a drive belt adjustment issue?I have a manual that shows a spring scale is needed to make the adjustment. Is there a workaround since I don't have a scale? Any suggestions or tips would be appreciated!

The drive belt runs from the engine to the hydraulic pumps & has a tensioner that keeps the slack under control. Chances are that a loose belt is a great sign of a belt that is about to go bad; by stretching, glazing or simply breaking. The "go-around" would be rather simple, tighten the belt a little at a time until the squealing noise stops. I would suggest replacing the belt though, just seems to make the best use of time. I would also suggest checking the tensioner for any problems. A few guys on this forum have found / posted pictures of the tensioners going bad; so it is definitely worth checking it all out.

old school drive belt tenninsoer decal back door adjustmen procuderes. yea loosen the belt push it down. stall it against brake recheck. my guess would be that old school idler brgs are shot. (not many left out there) and part is no longer available. it updates to a spring loaded idler and it aint cheap. but its a now or later thing. you want problem to go away replace idler and belt with new. also check spring loadeded cooling fan sys while there, as well as inspect angle drive for leakage. (you don't to replace this if a quart of 90weight and a couple seals will fix it) it seems to be a trend old school parts are becoming less and less avail and rebuild parts prices rise best to catch it now.
