742B wiring schematic

Help Support SkidSteer Forum:

Ever find a wiring diagram? Mine isn't getting power to the ignition switch, fuses are good. Lost link somewhere between the starter and ignition switch.
I have a 743 should be close look on the left hand side of the seat when sitting there are two plugs that can be your problem

742b gasser and 743 are a bit different. I think I've run the problem down to lack of power at the switch. If I run a hot lead to the switch all works fine. The power wire at the switch has 10.3 volts so it won't go without the jumper. There is a little black box in the engine compartment that is to the left of the starter mounted on the sidewall of the compartment that has wire (2) running in and back out. Any idea what it is and if it may effect the power to the switch?

I came over here from my original post because it said there was a wiring diagram, the one listed does not work. Life is normal :)

Thanks Machinist! That's a good view! Nexus, not sure about wiring by the seat. The wiring comes from the engine compartment and goes up the cab to the switch/fuses but I'll look today. Going to turn the heat on in the garage and get out and run it down. You folks are fantastic! This machine runs like the day it was new, believe it or not. Haven't had any real problems with it, I broke the bucket tearing out some stumps (good weld fix), replaced the muffler and u-joints (which are fun) and put a rebuild kit in the bucket tilt. After I get this electrical problem ran down I plan on giving it a good tune-up if I can find points for it (know where?). The ones in it are getting a bit wore down, I had to clean them a few times with emery cloth and re-gap them but the damn thing still runs great! Would like to find a backhoe for it sometime but have a feeling that may be an expense I can't afford for awhile. Thanks again folks! I'll let you know what I find.

In reading the schematic the wire giving me trouble goes straight from the starter to the fuse in the cab. Guess that's going to be a straight replacement and the box I was concerned about has nothing to do with it. Man that cleared a lot up for me...thanks again all! BUT, will post again to reassure you that it was the deal.

Might have to pick up the cage to find the plug be careful it can leave a mark

Yeah the plug is bad. One side carries over 12 volt and can't get a good reading on the other. Kind of a bad spot for them to put it but after I lifted the cab I got it tested and ran a jumper from the starter to the bad side of the plug. Works like a charm now! Thank all for the help and thanks machinist for the tune up info!
