There is a place on ebay that do them.
Not sure i'd be worried about the quality, even though they are not genuine, i believe they are still build to the same quality. I used aftermarket parts in a few engines, no issues so far.
When i got my kit, it was 1k, pistons, rings, pins, gaskets all new bearings. The price has naturally gone up since.
reeferparts.net Thats the company I work, We sell parts for carrier refrigeration units. We offer kits for a bunch of the kubotas, including the 2203. Definetly have your model / serial number off your engine ready, We are also a kubota parts dealer, we can get/stock some oem parts. Keep in mind if you call nobody there knows anything about your bobcat, just the engine. :)

Shame you can't get aftermarket turbos too, i'd lke to add one to my V2203DI

Well, got the engine out and torn down. The top 2 rings on the number 1 piston are destroyed. They came out in about 50 pieces! Thing is though, the cylinder looks great and the rod bearings show hardly any wear at all. The entire engine looks to be in great shape. The lifters don't even have any wear marks. So I am thinking a good honing of the cylinders and a new set of rings and I should be in good shape for quite a while. Opinions or thoughts on the next step are appreciated.

I'd go along with your plan.
Just ensure there isn't a ridge at the top of the bore, it's possible that it is what broke the ring.
I bought a pallet with 3 kubota engines off ebay years ago. I got one out of three. The bearings were all good and tight, there was a slight ridge at the top of the bores, i removed it, gave it a hone. It was the best starting V1702 engine i ever had.
I just gave it a good clean out with diesel and kerosene after the ridge removal, put it back together and BAM worked great.
Just ensure you get all the carbon out of the ring grooves you can. I used an old ring and scraped them clean.
Looks like you got your self a bargain!

We shall see how it turns out. I'm going to use a ridge reemer to clean up the ring groove and the hone it to put the cross hatch back in the cylinder. I will clean the hell outa things before it goes back together. There was some sludge in the pick up screen for the oil pump, so I think oil changes were a little to far between. I am excited to get it back together and see how she does. At this point I am with you, I think I got a good deal on this one!!

No doubt your ring breakage was caused by ether/starting fluid. Its the vicious cycle that makes engines "hooked".
Never thought about starting fluid. That would explain why I had a random broken set of rings in an otherwise perfect appearing engine. I did find out that rings are not cheap for these things. Best I have found is 186.00 for a set!! I couldn't believe my ears when bobcat said 86.00 a hole!! Well the gaskets are on the way and I am working on sourcing some rings. The honing is done and most of the surface prep is done. I am currently working on cleaning out probably 50 lbs worth of grease and gunk out of the engine bay. Also had to tighten up the clamps for the control arms on the hydrostatic unit. While I wait on engine parts I need to address a poorly executed fix on the drive pulley for the fan, someone with less than stellar skills attempted To weld the pulley to the shaft for some reason. Anyway, I shall keep you all updated on the progress. I'm sure ill have questions along the way!

Ebay had rings at a decent price i thought.......
Glad you are getting closer

We should have oem and aftermarket rings in stock for way less than that. 315 437 9718 tell em its for s v2203
The boss seemed to think the aftermarket rings were about $50 per cylinder. Those are in stock, not sure if the kubota rings are in stock though.

just fyi a reman form bobcat is $ 4151.00
Oh yeah, I know the remans are made of gold. I'm money ahead and I totally understand that. It just bugs me that I can buy a complete set of rings for a V8 for less than they want for this little 4 banger. I'll end up getting the set I found for 186.00 and be happy I guess. Between those, the gaskets and the hone I purchased, I should have about 350.00 in the engine. I can live with that.

Hey all, haven't updated in a while. Finally got the engine back together. It's sitting on the stand behind the bobcat waiting for a new oil pressure sensor, temp sender and a new pigtail for the fuel level sender that I forgot to unplug when I pulled the engine. Made a trip to Spokane tonight and picked up a 66" bucket for 400 bucks, not to bad I guess. Tires are on order and should be at the front door shortly. I'm looking forward to getting it back together finally!!

Post Pics of your completed setup :)

Can't wait to see it together and running like it should!
Hope you are taking lots of pictures.
I probably should have taken a whole bunch more pictures but its too late now. I have taken some though, and when I figure out how to post them they will be on here. I got the last of the little things done on the engine tonight. New oil pressure and temp sensors, new oil fill cap and new belts. The engine is going in tomorrow! I am looking forward to this part!!

Some pictures are better than none at all.
Hoping it works as it should.

Well today was a good day and a bad day at the same time. I got her back together and went for a little test run. It is running great and has lots of power but it does have a few issues yet. It wants to move when it is sitting at an idle. I am assuming i need to do some adjusting on the hydrostatic drive unit to get the creep out of it. Now, the big problem is the right rear wheel that locked up after the first good push? I am not sure whats going on but the right front wheel still moves and the left side drives fine, but the right rear is locked up solid. Any ideas where to start looking? I am assuming it has something to do with the chain drive to the back tire but that is a total guess at this time. I am going to go study the service and parts manual to see if I can come up with something. Hopefully someone smarter than me will chime in with some knowledge!!

Got it figured out, broke a link in the right rear drive chain. Anybody know if they make a master link that I can install without the fancy chain tool bobcat references in the service manual?
