I just bought a 250 skid steer. I've been servicing it as I've had time this last week. I went to change the oil and noticed the dip stick had NO add or full indicators on it. So I ordered a new dipstick from Deere and compared it to the old one. The new dipstick is about 6 inches longer than my old one. The "cable looking" part of the dipstick are the same length but that flat steel parts are different lengths between the 2. I contacted my dealership a couple times to make sure i had the right one using the Serial number off the machine. So I drain the oil and get curious and stick the new dipstick in. Mind you, its drained about 8 quarts (just over the capacity). I pull the dipstick out and theres still oil on it about 1 inch ABOVE the full line. and theres no more oil coming out. HELP!!! What the hell is going on with this. I've never had this problem before. I'd call the dealer but its the weekend and they're closed. Any suggestions?!?!?!

Forgot to add its a 1999
The deere site shows 7.8 quarts for engine oil capacity It would not hurt to go to that site to the construction part under service and support to look it up your self , there may even be help there for the dipstick question. I just looked at a generic 250 but with about 8 quarts of oil in it it should be safe to run.
