not to beat down the 907 but keep in mind you will have swing cyl issues thats a fact not a suppostion

where do you guys get hoses from? i have heard napa is cheap. is there a kit with all the hoses for this machine or do i have to take them off and have them all made up? thanks.

If you have an ESCO anywhere near you they can make you hoses much cheaper and faster than NAPA or your dealer. Atleast thats the case here. I can walk in with a hose and be out in less than 10 minutes with my new hose. Very cheap too, bucket tilt hose was like $14. They can also machine you new rods for cylinders, rebuid any cylinder etc. Otherwise NAPA is your next best choice or a local hydraulics shop. my Bobcat dealer can make some hoses on site.

no esco around here, i'll have to try napa. there is a shop in the next town i could try as well. do i have to put the backhoe in any position to remove the hoses? i could imagine if it lost pressure it would collapse on itself

if you have it on the machine shut the engine off and with the aux engaged operate all the levers and then there should be no pressure in any hose. If it is off the machine and not using the stabilizers for support there should be no problem , kind of have to go with what you need to do to access the hose you want. If you lay the boom and stick out as horizontal as possible first not much can happen.

anyone? it already has the newer style backhoe hooks. i think if i could weld 2" balls onto the inside of the existing mounts, it would work.

This shows a backhoe mount for both the old (trailer balls inside arms) and new (hooks outside arms). Looks like the trailer balls need to extend forward a bit.

so i am going to pick this up this week. anything i should do before hooking it up? this quick connectors are rusty from being on the ground, should i change them? should i try to drain the hydraulic fluid? my machine is the only one it has been on, but it has been sitting out for a while.

Depends on how rusty they are. If they are too bad, change them.
You can't really drain it as the cylinders hold the oil. The only way to do it right is take off all the lines and stroke the cylinders. I'd personally just remove the hoses with the couplers and flush them out. If any water got in, it *should* be stuck in these lines.
Depending on how long it has been sitting, in time you may need to re-seal the rams and possibly need new hoses. See how it goes though.

i think i am just going to replace the 2 quick connect lines right away, and change the couplers to the new flat faces ones. what do i need for the machine end, 1/2" female on the threaded end?

That is the hardest part, knowing just what threads you need. If you take them to your local hydraulic shop they should be able to match the threads for you.
I thought the quick couplers on the machine were 1/2”

A fixed one would be easy, hydraulic would be far more difficult. I actually thought about this for placing rocks. The problem is you will need another segment in your control block. That or a electric flow diverter from another function. You can then flick the switch to the thumb, grab what you want, flick it back to allow it to function normally.
I'd be interested if you do decide to add the thumb, may be motivation for me to do the same

i saw one on craigslist that gave me the idea...but it's an old unit, only worth so much.....i'll look more into it.

well, i finally hooked it up today. everything functions as it should. some of the pistons had rust on them, i just sanded them smooth. the swing piston was a bitch because it had some rust on the back and i couldnt see it. the controls are touchy to say the least. what kind of grease could i put on the block to keep the controls smooth? they are a little stiff.
