hello yup it me again.i'm still working on the l553.i got the speedy sleeve off and now i don't know if i want to just put another speedy sleeve on or remove the factory sleeve and replace it.any way as i'm looking at this i see there is the regular metal of the axle but there is a 1/4 in"wide ring of a silver gray looking metal this is right where the sleeve go's on .any one know why or what this is for.and as far as the sleeve go;s what would you do ?just replace the speedy or the factory sleeve???Jim

If it has the factory sleeve on it then remove it and replace. If it has the factory sleeve on it there is a bevel behind where the bearing sets. This bevel makes installing the axle easy and you do not have to worry about turning the lip of the outer seal inside out which will allow dirt to enter and take the oil seal out.
To determine if you have the factory sleeve, look straight down the axle and you should see a groove or line where the sleeve and axle meet. The bevel on the sleeve is about 1/4" wide and may be what you are seeing.

hello mike.i can see where the sleeve and axle come's together but than about 1/2 in.in from there is this change in the metal it is about 1/4in wide go's all the way around and is a silver gray color and than return to the regular color of metal.it is a perfect band.at frist i though it was some kind of a slip device .don't know .thank's so much for the come back.Jim p.s i will but the factory sleeve on.it had both before who ever did it before just put the thin speedy sleeve on over the factory sleeve.thank you again
