Thanks Tazza, So is the front fill plug connected to the back axles as well? or are they seperate tanks? I need to replace the rear seal. If the loader is on an incline the fluid drips out of the rear axle. I did find a maintance manual, it says to use same fuild for chain case as used in the hydraulic/Hydrostatic system. The correct level is when you remove the plug from the front on level ground and oil just starts to trickle out. Put the plug back in and you're right!
If you have never done the chaincase oil, you may want to drain it, mop out the chaincase and re-fill. You will then be good for 1,000 hours.
Removing the top inspection plate is easiest for large amounts of oil. If you only want to add a little you can use the level plug i mentioned on the front of the chaincase. It comes out with a 1/2" wrench.

Yes that is the level plug.There is only one chaincase on a genuine Bobcat for all 4 chains/wheels

What i do is two hydraulic bottle jacks, one on eash side of the hub, loosen the bolt a few turns and hit the back with a hammer.
