Couple 743 questions

Working on a few things on my 743 I picked up a few months ago.... First, The pivot tubes on quick-tach are worn bad. I removed the tapered pins from the lift arms but where the inner pin goes into the quick-tach, they have been very neglected and have beat up bad. Did possibly a bushing wear out and fall out or is it worn that bad and now needs to be sleaved? I have at least 3/8" and maybe more slop in the hole. What to do now? Second, I have devoloped an electrical draw somewhere. My battery will discharge from a full charge to nothing in a few days. Holds a charge if I unhook it. Can an altinator going bad cause this? I had the machine into the dealer weeks ago for some other issues and they said my altinator was going bad. Did it finally go and now cause a draw? My gauge doesn't work all the time however it shows that it is charging if I tap on the guage. Yes, I will be repalcing it but for the time being, just trying to figure out the draw. Thanks for any input !!!
 
A bad alternator or a bad diode to the 'exciting' connector on the alternator can do it. If it was wired wrong it will drain the battery, you can usually notice it if you leave the machine overnight and grab the alternator in the morning, if you can feel its slightly warmer than the rest of the machine its drawing power.
As for the lower pivot points, they can be replaced if you have a lathe, plasma cutter and welder. I removed some on a machine of mine as they were like yours, in a REALLY bad state. Remove them and make new bosses/bushings, install new pins and line it up on the machine, tack them in and keep going with small welds so it doesn't distort and it moves freely. Its not a fun job, but can totally be done.

I bought mine from Bobcat, the main thing you need to know is when you buy the replacements, they come in oversized, and you have to turn them down to the diameter your machine requires. All in all the job was pretty simple to do. Once I turned down the bushings, the job only took a few hours to complete. Probably the hardest part was getting the old bushings out.

The only problem is if they have been neglected too long, the hole the bushing fits in is no longer round... I had one that had at least 1/2” of wear, how do people lket it get so bad is beyond me....
