In your chain boxes? Another member and I ( ken / skidsteer.ca )were IM about this and it will work, I have a Case 1845 C and I have room for speaker magnets in my boxes.
All ya have to do is remove them from the speakers and they will work for ya real good and will stick to the sides. Ya can get speaker magnets at any stereo shop, just ask and they will point ya ta the dumpster, LOL

If you wanted to do this, magnets from hard drives are REALLY strong. If you stick them to a flat metal sheet, you will not be able to get them off.
Another soure of strong magnets are old magnetrons from microwaves, each one has 2 strong magnets.

Radio shack sells loose magnets, I bought a package of 7 for about $3. I put them in my top loader 4-speed and, in my oil pan.

i was just thinking that . what would happen to the metal oil filter if you put a high power magnet on it . as its filter impurities , it should pick up metal shavings as well . and when removed should take these partical too. i also like a magnettic oil pan drane plug. i am not sure on other units but my L565 new holland skid has a plastic hydrolic container and a would like to protect it systems as well any sugestions . i like lee valley or garet wade the supplies like this as well as princes auto all three are real candy store for big boys (inventor)people. kier from miramichi N.B.

Just browsing the site and found this home made section which is fantastic and full of ideas. I just did the axle seals on my 825, built in the late 70's early 80's?? and it has four magnets in the bottom of the hydraulic reservoir. They are a donut shape and sit on metal rods that are welded on the bottom of the reservoir. I just assumed they were manufactured there? Does this mean they are likely the addition of a previous owner??

I have seen them once before in one of those bobcats and I thought they were from the factory.

The old john deere used magnetic drain plugs .It's old school right out of the seventies. I think they are a great idea. The harddrive or speaker mags are the way to go. But I like little things with a lot of power.
Truley a good way to keep track of whats wearing in the chain case.Scott
