Do guys restore old skid steers ? I have restored garden tractors as well as lots of other guys. But never really heard of restoring skid steers, could be I need to get out more though.

There are a few of us that have, i re-built an old 743. Shame it doesn't look as good as it did just after i assembled it though :( But thats what you get when you re-build something and actually use it!
I don;t know anyone in here that has restored a machine just for the sake of it to sit in a shed and never be used again.

I'd like to restore and use the machine, I just think after 30 years of use a new paint job and decals would draw attention to it as far as 'advertizing' my business. People, I don't think seem to really notice my new A300 so much as it is just another white bobcat in town. Just my opinion. I am always trying to think of an angle for getting the business noticed.

Does anyone have pics of restored machines ? I'd kinda like a little motivation to get started. The garden tractors I restored are for working , I just keep the equipment inside shed when not in use.

I have done both a 553 and a 853,

Pics in the media section. Both had ok power trains, but many small problems that needed addressed. I did not go from top to bottom, but more looked at what I felt needed replaced. Both were reliable machines afterwards.
I guess the only thing I have against a IH is there just is not many around, hopefully the design was sound and not prone to too bugs the factory never addresses. Not trying to knock what your doing, just from a practical side. It should be the only one in town when you get it done.

I like the pics. The IH won't be my big money maker. I use it for loading stump grinder leavins after I grind up tree stumps with the A300 bobcat. And other small tasks like that. The bobcat will still be the breadwinner of the equipment family. Besides, I only paid $1000.00 for the IH so I won't be out much if I don't use it much.

The pics of my machine ae on my home pc, not the web. If you send me an e-mail i can dig a few up and send them over if you want. “taz38sup at yahoo.com.au” at = @ naturally.
