Root bucket/digger? I would like to shake his hand ( smiley face goes here) My name is Jim and I am a newbie here I have read lots of your wonderful postings and looked at almost all of your Great pictures. I live in NE Florida and would like to swap lots of ideas with most of you? I am the type of person that can see something once. Then go home and try and make a better one? Thanks for your time on reading this Introduction? If there was a introduce your self section, I would have posted there Jim I hope to be a part of this wonderful forum

Welcome to the site. I'm the same, i can look at something and generally i can make the same thing. I'd love to make a roller attachment for my bobcat, but the lack of time these days is horrible.
What sort of attachments are you looking at making?

I am not sure yet which I want to attempt first? A long and a short strong boom would be nice and a root digger like the other person made and a 2" receiver for a trailer hitch some backing plates for different things. And I have to go to the hydraulic shop to find out if I can get a hydraulic motor to make a 540 RPM P T O, for a 6 foot brush cutter/bush hog. What have you made so far? and found to be the most useful?

I haven't made any attachments yet, i have sort of started making a set of pallet forks but i didn't have the steel to finish it. Its a job that will get done when i get material and time.
The most usefull attachment for me i think is the 4 in 1 bucket. It has teeth that i use to lift things and its great for grabing rocks, 44 gallon drums of scrap steel the list goes on. I have an excivator attachment too, but i haven't used it much, i need to make an attachment to get it to attach to the loader better, it shakes me around way too much without.
I too will make a lifting boom one day, it would indeed be handy.
I may need to run power cables for the house soon, so i may need to make like a claw to rip the dirt, well its more like rock here.

The boom I speak of would be simular to an engine hoist boom and telescopic with 3 sections and put a pin thrugh the sections, I have been looking all over getting some good ideas, I wnat to make a ripper/claw like you are talking about. I am going to try and post a picture of an easy ans strong back plate, Its in the gallery here on the second page, That person does good work. I see you are on yahoo, I will give you a IM Here goes the picture attempt?

the bucket pictured is the one I made but I got the idea from 500k773 and after using it I found that it needed some more welding along the top edge where they meet the side bars (got cracks) I also made a snowplow but you have no use for that in Fla anything we can do to help let us know and welcome to the forum Jeff

mr Jimi there is a good selection of hyd motors, pumps and valve at www.surpluscenter.com I use a char lyn on my 60" brusher with a 17 gpm flow. was around 365.00 Ken
WoW! I just came back from there! A heck of a good selection.
Did you direct drive or that angle thing? on top of the deck?
I also see a tree chopper in my crystal ball, like a sideways stump grinder. I am interested in making a 3PT hitch with a 540 PTO for a Bobcat, I have looked far and etc. and I just don't see almost 2K on a adapter to run PTO accessories like bushog etc.? I found a number 981-1002 made by char lyn and I will keep looking. I live in a very large city and i can usually find everything needed but when I went to 3 different Shops and told them what I wanted to do? They looked at me funny, ya know what i mean? LOL
Thanks for the lead

I know that look well, its like they are saying to themslevs "WTF is he on about??"
But then again, you find people that know EXACTLY what you want to do and know how to go about it. They will tell you how to make it work better etc.
Good luck, and take LOTS of piccies.

Well, its like this? I have no idea what I am doing but I know just what I want and I can build it real easy, I have a lot of tools etc. I just want to make life easier for my wife and myself, she likes driving different things with motors.
We have some lots of land that would look real pretty if they were cleared and if I can make this heavy duty mower/brush buster, i can have some nice looking land? I am not interested in selling them but you know money talks and I will listen .
Did you get the email I sent you at your yahoo address Tazza? I wanted to add you to my yahoo IM
I wish this site had a PM , Private Message capabilities

No, i didn't..
I dont use Yahoo anyway, i just use it for my e-mail for e-bay mainly, i don't want to publish my REAL e-mail address anywhere public that can cause me to get heaps of spam. Try sending me another e-mail, [email protected] and i will send you my *real* e-mail address if you would like. They both get checked but the yahoo one seems to filter some things out.

I haven't been able to rouse mr coyote, but we both live in WA, so it would be handy to have PM...(formatting is also very poor here...) jimi, might want to look over here for attachment ideas (like this tree shear) http://www.skidsteersolutions.com/Skid_Steer_Tree_Shears_s/14.htm I would like similar but smaller version mounted on my 'brushCat' for when I get a tree in my way, (vertical or horizontal) I am not overjoyed with rotary cutters, and am working to get a flail to mount to my excavator, and one for my BobCat. The best ones to find are at auction, (one rencently sold for $799 on web) as they are too spendy new($6000) (try US mowers for cheapest alternative) I mounted a rotary brushhog to my trackloader (bulldozer) about 6 yrs ago. I bought a HYD motor locally from a 'white' hyd dealer. It is very stout, and I added an internal 'high pressure' bypass for jam-up protection (very important) I also like that I can run it either direction, to clear tangles The deck takes a severe beating, my $500 mower is pretty trashed, but I have cleared lots of brush, very fast My BrushCat is much more robust, but still has 'rotary' issues, (throws 2" sticks everywhere) and doesn't do as nice of job as flail or shredder. CTL's don't have the HP or flow to really do a good job with a flail; need 100hp+, but there are several folks using them successfully janb
