Hi all! New member here. Been looking at getting an inexpensive skidsteer for a while. I have about 5 acres of property that would make work a lot easier on moving rock, dirt, etc. I'm sure neighbors could find work for me too. :) Anyhow, I'm looking at a 1984 632. It seems like a pretty clean machine, has a newly rebuilt motor with only 13 hours on it and looks well taken care of (the owner said he is meticulous with everything he owns.. but aren't we all ) Here's a couple pics. http://www.stoneip.com/temp/skid1.jpg http://www.stoneip.com/temp/skid1.jpg They're asking $5000. Have a 18' trailer for it too that they want to sell with it. It's a little bigger trailer than I wanted, but unless they are willing to deliver it then I may end up needing that to. Now, I don't know much about these machines, so I'm looking for opinions. Is this something you have to drive to know if it's worth it? I've never even run one before. :) But, I am mechanically inclinded (work on ATVs and motorcycles all the time) and don't mind getting my hands dirty.

If you go to your profile page and check the box at the very bottom that says [Check HTLM Editor](Free text box). I think that will help. Mike

I don't know about the price as i live in Australia but they are tough machines. The hydro's will more or less last forever. I assume it runs a ford petrol engine? I have only ever owned diesel machines but the power of that one will be more than enough for its rated capacity.
It looks really tidy, give it a work out and see how the power is, it should turn easily but will groan a bit which is normal. It should be able to stand in one spot and spin around.

Yes, it has the ford motor, recently rebuilt.
The problem is they are pretty far away, so they offered to take video of it this weekend in action. they have an 18' trailer they want to sell with it as well, but I don't need something like that (except for hauling the skidsteer) so I'm trying to work it out where they'll deliver it for a little extra $$.
It's at their lake cabin now, but they plan on bringing it back soon. Maybe this weekend.
For $5000, it's hard to go wrong if it is in working order.

Thats true, as you said there are so few hours on the re-built motor.
Its really hard to say without seeing it, its always best to see and hear it to get an idea if something isn't quite rite. Rattles, squeals smoke at startup smoke when under load. How easy it is to start when cold.
Other than that, there really isn't a lot to go wrong with them, they don't have the new fangled electronics that cost a fortune to fix or even trace.
