I see the forum needed to change it's name due to objections by Bobcat. If Bobcat is a registered name, how much control do they have over the word Bobcat being used? For example, IF I wanted to name my business Bobcat Services or something similar, could Bobcat make me change it?

Thats lame. I think they do have a legal right to make you change your business name or they just send you a scary lawyer letter saying they have the legal right to intimidate you before they take you to court if you refuse. Thats enough to scare 99.9% of small business out there. Do you have better lawyers or deeper pockets than Ingersoll Rand (owners of Bobcat)? A couple of years ago a small local tool store named Tools 'R' Us in Azusa, CA got a lawyer letter from Toys 'R' Us and quickly changed the name to the store to Tool Team. I think they had the original name for 10 + years before Toys 'R' Us got a hold of them!

I sort of see their point, as it *sounds* like it is affiliated with bobcat (even though the home page clearly says its NOT).
Some people just go too far with copy rights. They may feel that it is loosing them money for their service department? I highly doubt this, as any spares needed we go to our locat dealer. Also, 1 phone call to your dealer and the service department will assist you to do it yourself over the phone.

Jeez... I'm changing my username soon as well. If Bobcat can't support a forum that's bloody well showing pure supposed to them, I've concluded that I have no more hope in their current engineers and management.

So sad... but alas, it must be done.

Let me repost... haha:

Jeez... I'm changing my username soon as well [to no longer show affiliation to Bobcat; not by Bobcat's request, but by my own accord]. If Bobcat can't support a forum that's bloody well showing pure *support* to them, I've concluded that I have no more hope in their current engineers and management.

Or maybe I'll wait for them to tell me to change my user name. I'd love to discuss the current progress of their company with them.

En revanche... owensge, can you please delete all of my posts in this thread (including this one)? They reflect poorly on the professionalism of this board and its members (including myself).

BobcatS250 - you have a right to express yourself in that manner, i'm sure no one will judge you for your own views.
