Converting a small backhoe to fit a skid steer

I seen may manufactures that make a backhoe for the front of a skidsteer, it looks like a bucket,arm and cylinder with the arm welded to a quick mount plate. These use the skidsteer to swing and dump rather than seperate swing cyliners. Ive got a small backhoe thats missing swing cylinders so I thinking i can remove the bucket & arm then weld it to a quick attach plate, plug in and I will be ready to go. Has anyone ever tried this or even used this type hoe? I need a small one to dig trenches sometimes & it sure would be easier that driving the 555hoe around.

I can't see why it wouldn't work to an extent. It will weigh more than the standard one that just has a bucket attached. The only problem i see is the controls. If its off an excavator it will have 3 rams not including the swing which you say does not have a ram. You need to work out how to plumb these up so you can access them from the cab as you need to use the steering levers when dumping the dirt. The whole assembly will weigh quite a bit too.

I was planning on doing it the easy way, just using the bucket & one boom section, one cyl the bucket cylinder. Should be easy this way and work ok in a pinch for small jobs. I will let the Bobcat do the swing, boom will be mounted solid to a quick attach plate.

why not get swing cyls and mount the whole thing? turning to dump will get old fast....my 2c......Jeff
