SCORED A mebbe 610 engine , kubota 722, 14.9 hp??

hi guys, i scored a kubota engine last nite, but im noot sure its big enough, a 722 cc 3 cylinder water cooled with a centrifugal clutch,, its certainly short enough to fit the hole in my new to me 610 wi wisc innabasket. specs say its capable of 14.9 hp intermittent and best i remember 12.7 sustained, im not sure what intermittent means, is that 10 minutes or 3 hours, will 12 horse run the hydraulics and some movements, i dont know, what do you guys think?? i think it was a gator or atv engine, freally clean and tite x cept for a broken solenoid cover just in front of fi pump, just where throttle and fuel shut off lever goes, buck

I'm not sure on what they feel is intermittent too, as HP is HP really, you can push it as hard as you can, but if the load is too high, it will just bog down.
Being a diesel, it may run better than the petrol/gas one it used to have. It has more low down torque, where the other had it's HP at like 2-3,000 RPM
If the motor is a little under sized, it just means you can't push it as hard as it used to, but i'd like to say it would still run. The biggest issue you'll have is finding space for the radiator to keep it cool.

I have a 500 and it is supposed to have a 24 hp kohler gas burner ,well it was retrofitted with a 18.2 hp Wisconsin tdj it does ok . you just have to not turn it to hard or it will bog some. straight going it runs just fine and will lift the machine easily. but the engine that was supposed to be in there was rated for more than 30 hp granted gas not diesel . I would say it will be ok if you keep it at the slowest ground speed setting. I did away with the trashed belt drive switched to chain and went to a 15 tooth engine to 30 tooth jackshaft sprockets fixed speed.

Will it run and move it? Yes. Will you be happy with it? NO. If your going diesel, find something in the 25 hp range. 30 Hp would be better, as it would add a little more power than factory.
As far as I can assume, the rated power is the amount of power it has been tested to reliably, for durability concerns. Kind of like a car, you can go 70 mph all day long, but it will only last so long at 100mph.
