I'm having issues keeping my 885 running. I just replaced the starter removed the glass fuel separator. Put it back together and it ran for about 5 minutes. I forgot to prime the system...... Now I can't get it to start again unless I prime it. The hand primer has a lot of resistance. Using a fuel pump to push diesel until it comes out the return line I can start the machine and it'll run for about 5 minutes before shutting off. Then have to repeat using a pump to reprime the system. I took the plunger out of the fuel shut off valve just to make sure that it was not the issue. I do have 12 volts to it. And with it remove there's no pressure on the hand primer. Fuel freely runs out the shut-off port. is there something else that I missing in line that could be causing a vacuum loss? Or something I can remove to try to put back pressure on in case something is lodged in the line?...... I'm assuming my issue is from the pump forward...... Sorry for the long post just trying to provide as much information as possible.

If it was running fine before filter replacement, i'd like to think it's just an air pocket that is still there.
When you run it for the 3 minutes before it stops, are you running it fairly fast? when it dies, what happens, does it just stop dead or does it slowly loose speed then stop?
Generally when there is air, it will run fine, then start to slow and then stop. If it's the fuel shut off it will run find then just instantly stop on you, no slowing beforehand.

It slows down, if I'm at a high rpm it will sputter a little and the die out. As the unit would do if you can out of fuel. I don't know where all to bleed this. My manual just states to open the screw ontop of the filter and pump the primer. My biggest concern is the pressure on the primer. Is that normal? I don't want to ruin anything else as I keep trying to troubleshoot

had a buddy from work help me out. had a small slice in the upper gasket on the fuel separator and was sucking air in without seeing fuel loss in the bowl
