So I put a new wheel motor on the right side and did a bunch of other repairs while it was down. When I got it running and drove it around a bit with the back door off the temp light came on,I looked in the radiator after it cooled and there is oil in the water however there is no water in the engine oil.So I think it is hydraulic oil since it runs through the bottom of the radiator. My question is would it be safe to put a union in the hoses that run through the radiator and drain the hydraulic fluid from the radiator run it for a bit and see if I get water out of the oil cooler in the radiator? Or would I be risking overheating the hydraulics? I am talking about short term here just as a test.
