I have a 1967 M500 that I am restoring. I have found a lot of new replacements available from Bobcat, however I need some used parts to complete my project. Does anyone have an M444 or M500 parted out?

I am not sure yet that I would want to start parting out, but I have a complete but non-running M-500 I would possibly be willing to sell. If interested, what part of the country are you located?

I am from Newfoundland Canada. I would purchase the complete unit pending location and pricing. The parts that I need are as follows. Electrical to include stator, complete wiring harness with voltage regulator. Left and right dash panels. Air cleaner with intake hose to carb. An original seat. Guard that covers the foot controls. Front tow hook. Not too worried about the condition of the seat as I can get it reconditioned. I am actually a Bobcat dealer and my father owned this unit for over forty years. I want to restore it to like new and place it in my showroom. I have it ready for paint and need the parts listed above to complete it. I can get the complete machine shipped from most anywhere in the US. Thanks.

What a neat project! I am located in Western Missouri, almost dead center in the continental U.S. so is quite a distance and also you would have to import it. To be fair to you, I would need to verify that my M500 has all of the parts you need. I believe mine has all of the panels and guards, but can't remember if the intake hose and seat are original and the wiring harness probably has been repaired over the years at the ends. I will take a look at it this weekend and maybe get some photos so you could see what I have.

BTW when I gave my Bobcat dealer the serial number they told me mine was a 1967 so the parts should be similar.

Thanks. Would you be able to send me a few pics? I painted the machine last night and it turned out awesome. I purchased the new wheels from Bobcat and I was lucky enough to find some new original Good Year chevron tires for it. The local Good Year dealer had them in inventory since 1982. They had eleven of them so I took them all. I ordered the new decals from bobcat and they shipped newer modern decals. I was hoping to get original looking decals and I have been looking everywhere to find them. Does anyone know where I could fid them? Thanks.

Hi RJP-
I have not been on lately but did finally get some photos of most of what you were looking for- with the exception of maybe the seat most of the parts you asked about appear to be present and original (although a little dirty from sitting outside).
My workplace is apparently blocking my photo sharing site so will need an e-mail address or something similar to send photos to you. You can e-mail me at tigernhaze at Hotmail and I will reply with the photos.

Was reading some of your older post and was wondering if you still have the m500. I have one, it runs and works great but would like to have another for future parts. Thanks,. Terry in Tennessee.

my 500 the variable speed sheave shattered on the engine side. Does anyone know what the pulley ratio is on low speed, I am thinking of making it a single speed and also wondering about making that a chain driven vs. belt, any thoughts? Thanks Dave

I do not know what the ratio is, but it's definitely not a good idea to replace the belt drive with a chain ... too high revolutions are for a chain whitout lubrication.

I thought I would use that hi-tack spray grease you would use on a motorcycle chain. lord knows I won't be turning that much chain speed like they run. from what I understand they used to use a set up like I was thinking with the same engine on hay balers in the 80 's, it is just getting the ratio right, slow for power but not painfully slow either.

The ratio can be calculated with great accuracy, I can tell you how if you are interested. I just think it's much cheaper and better to rebuild this module than to create difficulties with the processing of two modules.Every good metalworking shop will be ablle to do reapir on frong parts or make new one. The chain wants a more precise positioning of the chain wheels, it does not tolerate even a small missaligment in the axes.

I have checked around here and no one wants to take it on as to making a new unit from scratch, do you know of a shop that might have prior experience with reconditioning one?

I do not know where you are, I can not see you in your profile. I guess we're far from Bullaria. It's also hard to find someone to do that, but it's not impossible. I did it on 2 machines, I used the same workshop near me, but for the second machine I waited for almost 2 months ..... it is difficult
