Gehl 2500 with a new lease on life

Mike is this the Engine that Boomer was saying that you scored a heck of deal on? If so How did you find it, and do they have any more?

Mine tured out not to be either, just bearings allowing enough slack to let the chain slip, but the Gear on mine is actually held in place by a castle nut and a cotter pin... Downside is that you'll never get the sproket off the shaft unless you pull the transmission on that side. Just not...

Finally got some images put up online, Heres the pic of the machine, I'm gonna repait it when I get a chance, I should of done it when I had the motor out but it was actually really easy to pull other than the fact that the Tombstome on the back of this thing predates Hinges...

Its a good investment on these to just go out and buy a new #60 roller chain and throw it on. Just to be safe. I did just about everything possible to try to get my chains not to slip and they keep telling me that I should consider replacing the Drive gear. Which is just about 300 per side...

Why not just put a 3/4 hole in the Wear plate on the front edge and put a ball in it?

didn't realize this was an old post, but incase any one is reading, about the lunging forward or in any direction for that matter, there is a couple of remedies, Either reach under the seat and bend the Control rods in the direction that takes the pressure off the hydra stat drive gears or take...

I didn't think the older onans had a distributor, they ran a 2 plug coil and both wires get spark at the same time, which negates the distributor. I'm speaking about the older NHC series, I don't know about the performer series though, As far as the no spark, depending on the engine probably...

I haven't had to repower yet .... What size of motor did it have? I might be interested in a junk motor for parts if its the right one. What year is the loader? I've been running a 72, and have done a lot of dirt moving and its held up pretty well. Just can't be afraid to get covered in grease...

I do have some pictures of the auger and a video of it in action but just waiting for it to upload from my phone to my laptop. In the mean time I managed to Dig 70 post holes this weekend, but in the process the motor started to act weird. At first I thought it was the fuel pump but, No Dice...

Well, I haven't given up on the Earth auger, just got a little side tracked, While trying to run the auger noticed the govenor not kicking in to rev up the engine so I was running it manually till I slipped an pressed my hand against the exhaust, which hurt. So I decided to try to revitalize the...

I knew that the planteary type would be out of my price range to build. and I wasn't opposed to constructing a gear reduction, but I looked at the models that don't have either, just because they would be simple and cheaper to build although they might not work as well. I then pulled the numbers...

SkidRoe, What kind of Hydro Motor is that in the auger? I was starting to suspect that I had the wrong motor in my auger that I built till today I found myself looking at some rentals, and I did a follow up on the motors and they all operate anywhere from 10 to 25 gpm and turn about 1k Max Rpms...

Thats pretty decent price for a motor? did you find it used or is there a lawn boy carcas laying around somewhere :) I'll have to snap a few picture of my loader which I'm quickly naming the Grave Digger, Not because of what it does but the work to get thing back to operating order is gonna put...
