Zetor tractor

I have been hired to do a brake job on a Zetor 5211 farm tractor in about 2 weeks. My only other experience with Zetor has been an oil change and a water pump replacement - easy jobs. Anybody familiar enough with Zetor (a Czech company) to either advise me or lead me to a service manual? There is not a Zetor dealer in this area and the owner is a horse guy, not a mechanic or even an equipment guy.

I for one have never heard of one of these machines. Hopefully its all pretty straight forward, the biggest issue i see is being able to source brake pads/shoes. Worst case, you can get new material bonded to them.

My cousin has an 8011. I remember him telling me that the brakes on his are the dry style and are located in chambers between the differential and the in-board planetary final drives on either side. If this is the case on the 5211, they will require some pretty heavy disassembly to get at. Could you start out by adjusting them to see what you get, or are they truly worn out? If you do strike out on obtaining a manual, sometimes the dealer will let you copy a few pages out of his. Good Luck - SR

Thanks for the info, Skid. I'll study that links when I start the job. I will be on vacation for about two weeks before I start the job, so it will be a little while before you hear from me on this, but I'll keep you posted once the job is underway. I saw what looks like a couple of brake housings just inboard of the rear wheels. I didn't look too much at it because I knew I wasn't starting the job right away and I just spent 5+ hours in the 94-degree heat - it was time to go home! But I do look forward to the challenge!
