I was thinking chain but you would need to snap 2 chains. The gear case should run 2 chains, one to the front one to the back for each side.If its only one side it does point to it being the motor or the pump section for that side. I personally wouldn't plug the hoses but it would give you an indication. If you could attach a pressure gauge to the hoses it would tell you a lot too, the manual for my 731 said you can test it that way but don't go over 3,000 PSI i think it said (the pump can deliver over 5,000 psi)</blockquote>
