I have a question about a BGM 4141 starter, I have one that is staying engaged into the flywheel after the engine has started, is this normal. If not would anyone have a repair manual for it? Can seem to find one that tells me how it should be assemble.

Is the shaft smooth on the starter? If its rough or has sticky grease, it will stick. I don't believe there is a reason why it should be staying engaged. It should be flung back when the engine has started, as i'm sure you know.
The ones i have had that stuck like that, needed the shaft oiling, it worked a treat.

It should be a simple matter of cleaning it up and putting a bit of fresh lube on the moving points; starters are pretty easy to work on. Here's a page from my book, the Wisconsin one should be the middle.

Sorry i posted the wrong model number, should be MBG 4141.
the one i have does not have a solenoid. I have a bendix drive. I will get a picture tonite and post it.
The wisconsin engine book has a parts break down but no how to guide to take apart and put back to together.
I had it takeing apart last night and thought i had everything checked out. but I guess not. I am thinking now that the bendix drive may be stuck on the shaft, but i need to look at it again. At least it is not hard to get to, pull or break it down to at least all the big parts on the bench.
