i just purchased a new to me old 843, this is my first skid steer. What should i check on it, what fluids and where should i check. What fluids should i use? Any info would be great
 
Go to this thread http://www.skidsteerforum.com/DesktopDefault.aspx?tabid=54&frmView=ShowPost&PostID=31190 and there's a link to where I uploaded service manuals. Find the folder for a 843 and download the service manuals. Most of the info you need will be in the manuals.
Check the hydraulic and chain case oils to make sure they're clean and not milky. If you don't know the history of the filters(air, hydraulic and engine oil) I'd change them.
Clean all the gunk out from around the engine and under the cab. This will let you see if there are any leaks.
Find all the grease fittings and pump grease until you see it coming out around the pins. Replace any fittings that won't take grease.
Depending on which engine you have if you don't know how old the the timing belt is you should check it.
