Hello guys, my name is Lee and i am new to this site. The reason i joined is that i need some info on what to purchase, which is more reliable and if anyone is doing what im doing, that can shed some info. I am wanting to do some clearing of land and roads on the side. i work offshore and i wanted to do something on my time off. My plan is to buy a skid steer and purchase a mulcher to do small brush removal for pond dams hunting rds food plots fence rows etc. What machine would you guys recommend? If any of you do this kind of work it sure would be helpful to have some insight on what i might be getting in to. Any info is greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

Welcome to the site.
As you say you want to do mulching, you really want a machine with hi-flow. It will give you more HP at the attachment than a standard machine.
As for brand, go my what is mostly in your area. I can say Bobcat, but if the dealer is 100ks away, when you need parts, it will involve a lot of driving to get them. You need dealer support with any machine you end up getting.
There is no machine that people should stay far away from. They all have their good and bad points. NH i think have their own branded engines so engine parts are dealer only which adds up fast. Deere i heard are a bit of a pain to access the innards, especially if the battery is flat or dead. Bobcat hand controls when they fail or have any issues will cost you a small fortume to fix.
What sort of dirt do you have? do you need tracks or will tyres work?
Just a few things to start with.
