what is this thing in my engine compartment?

i recently got a 1973 bobcat m700. i havent got a manual yet. in the engine compartment, attached to the right side there is a long tool. its hend in with a removeable bolt. i havent taken it out yet. it looks like a long jack. i hope its for lifting the heavy seat section!! does anyone know what im talking about? sorry no pics.
 
Are you asking about item #2 in this diagram.

If so then yes its a jack to lift the ROPS(cab).
 
It looks like the cylinder stop. It is used to hold the lift arm up, while working on the machine. Just place over one of the lift cylinders. It's a safty thing. I have one on my machine, and I love it.
