What does the number above the model number 643 mean?

Hello fellow skidsteerers,

Bought this old guy last year. Needs quite a bit of love to get back into shape but I'm curious about the numbers 275 on the upper side frame. Are these just numbers added by a former construction company to keep track of their skidsteer fleet or does the number actually mean something else?

Usually a Rental number to keep track of machine. Unless the construction company has Dozens of machines .

My 863 skid steer had a number Like yours.
It was a rental company number too.
It was years ago but I called Bobcat and they gave me some history (owner) and maintenance on mine. It was a small rental company in Southern California.

Interesting and I guess anything that can narrow down the machine to a unique individual is great when you buy a used (and old) one. Called Bobcat here in Sweden but they could not tell me much about mine even though I gave them the s/n. It was too old according to them
