I had to get a big 3-pulley (centrifical clutch type) off my new Honda going into my Skid steer. The engine was sitting on the bench. I ended up welding a gear puller to the center of the pulley then just screwed in the big threaded part into center to force the pulley off. I didn't want to wreck with the puller arms as is obsolete is my guess or very expensive. It was on very hard due to jammed key (wrong size made by machine shop.) But- did that welding on pulley hurt my internal coils if engine was not connected to anything? I never even considered that.

Where did you have the welding ground connected?
I had it connected to the pulley itself. I guess the simple way as was suggested by someone is just crank it over with battery and see if has spark- For some reason I was thinking I'd have to hook up gas, ect. -thanks

I would like to say it will be fine, but electronic points can be easily damaged.
