I apologize for the length of this post in advance.

For reference, this is a bobcat 963c, but the fuel systems are basically the same in all the 9 series and even the s250 has basically the same setup just different parts.

FFWS = Fuel Filter Water Separator

The bobcat dies after about 10 minutes of operation at high RPM.

The bottom FFWS drains nothing.

The top ffws drains a quarter to a half cup of fluid. At first I thought it was water but after a couple times of doing this I checked and it's draining diesel.

After I drain it, I crank it for 20 seconds, let it rest for a minute and a half, and crank it for another 18 seconds or so and it starts and runs for another 10 minutes.

I did change the top fuel filter with no change in results.

If anyone experienced anything like this with any bobcat with the two ffws, I'd appreciate any insight you have to offer.

Thanks!

Check to make sure nothing is in the fuel tank being sucked up and blocking fuel. I have had a engine with a bad injector that has caused fuel pushed back to tank.

Hi,
On my sailboat I had a similar problem. Yanmar 37 hp. Weirdly intermittent. Turned out the fuel pickup had a 90* elbow at the top. Over the years, a perfectly round, 1/4" ball of tank debris had formed in the tube acting as a check valve. This fall, my 743 pulled a similar stunt. The priming bulb had enough sediment to block the line at certain machine angles. Complete cleaning of tank, deletion of primer bulb, new hoses and a Facet pump from NAPA solved the problem permanently. Hope this helps

Well I just had the dip tube replaced not too many hours ago.
Beyond with something with the primer bulb though. That thing is ancient and hard as a rock.
I'm working on it right now so I'll check that out. Thanks!

Just to clarify, The S250 does not have the same Fuel Filter.
The Filter you have seems a little big at the top of the filter.

Yes sir, I know. As I said the basic setup is similar but the parts are different. Everything I've seen from a 753 to a s250 has the two filters, the lift pump in the middle, etc

I have first hand seen a reman motor from Cummins that had a fuel supply problem that took awhile to sort out. It ended up being a cigarette butt inside the new filter that came on the motor from Cummins.

I am thinking that this cheap wix filter is bad. I would suggest to go with an OEM or something better then wix
Bobcat doesn't manufacture their own filters. The wix filter is actually identical to the bobcat filter, That's who makes them for bobcat. Confirmed at dealer.

I don't know if maybe that's for their spin-ons not this weird one I have. But a few years ago when they were out of stock and I had to have one, that's what they told me.
Good information though. I appreciate it.

Anyway, I still think you have a bad filter.

I bought an old 610 that had issues with the drive. Wrong viscosity oil was the main issue plus mechanical fails. I found a 3/8" chain hook that had been mangled by being forced between the drive sprockets and gear box. No way it could have been put in there without the side panel being off the gearbox. Sabotage by some jerk wad while being worked on.
