Old mustang Series 1000 variable shaft assembly instructions say to line up the marks when assembling. Does anyone know where these marks are located and what the look like as I can see no marks on The coupler or shaft

From what I read in my manual, If you have a coupler on the shaft, someone has already made the marks on the shaft, cut the shaft to do whatever repairs and installed the coupler. I would make my own mark just for peace of mind, from one shaft section across the coupler to the opposite shaft. Then when you are reassembling the shaft you will know the marks to use for alignment. HTH

Mine had notches ground into matching points, that were ignored and thing was assembled backwards with green permanent marker marks officializing the mistake. I'm going back to the permanent notch alignment it seems to work. Alternate bolt heads for balance.
