Hi i have an 2004 s300 that i just got and when i got it home it had no hydraulic oil in it so as the cap specified i put hydraulic oil in it,then i got to reading on the net and in the parts manual and it said i had to use hydraulic/hydostatic oil, will the hydraulic oil be fine in there until i get it to a dealer since it needs servicing anyway.thanks

This one has come up sooo many times its not funny.
The older machines were happy with standard engine oil, 20W50 15W40 etc but the more modern machines are a little more fussy, especially if they are still under warranty. If you use anything other than Bobcat hydrostatic fluid you loose all warranty on your hydraulic components.
It all depends on how much oil you added, i'm sure it would be fine but i'm not going to say sure, it will be fine and later find out it caused damage.
I persoanlly would call your local dealer and talk to the service guys, see what they have to say about it all? That way you know everything will be ok.

I'd say you will be fine , I work on a lot of Bobcats and 90 % of them don't use the Bobcat brand hydraulic oil , it is extremely expesive , right at $80 with the tax per 5 gallons , you can get hydraulic oil right now for $30 per 5 gal , thats almost 3 to 1 , every one been on it and it doesn't seem to be having any ill effects
