Uploading pictures and attaching them to your posts.

Dear management, I'd like to start by saying how great of a site this is with one exception. POSTING PICTURES. Like everybody else I'm a member of other forums that have way easier picture posting capabilities. Would it be so hard to look into fixing and making it easier to post pictures with your threads? Or just posting pictures in general? Thanks BobCat.

I'm not a computer genius by any stretch of the imagination but there has to be a better way. I use FireFox and I'm having problems replying to previous postings. I have to go to preview then go back in order to be able to type in the message box. I'm just saying this site needs some tweaking to make it more user friendly. Posting pictures is a nightmare and I don't know enough to tell you how to fix it, sorry. Maybe take a look at other sites and copy them? I don't know?

Because your answer won't work for me. I think this forum needs a update to do it.

Your picture(s) have to be physically located on some web sever somewhere for them to show up in a post on any forum. They can't reside only on your home PC for that. It may be that some forums make the process so transparent that you are not aware of it and in reality a copy of your picture is uploaded (and appropriately resized if needed) to some place on the sever hosting the forum and from there is automatically placed in your post. None of the forums I participate in make it that automated or transparent. Sorry, I know of no easier way to do it.

Actually storing of pictures on a website take a lot of storage and given this is a free forum, its reasonable they don't allow the storage of pictures. Some other sites do it the same way. Suggest you get a free account on imageshack.com and store your pictures there. They provide a very easy to use upload then gives you multiple COPY options to copy the proper HTML for the picture. I realize it works much better with IE than other web browsers. Unsure if that a problem with the other browsers or this site.

I've lost maybe 5% of my uploads over a period of several years. Of course I still have my originals but wherever I posted that used any of that 5% will now just show a dead link and no photo.
This site actually does have a photo and video section where registered users can create albums and upload photos. I've never used that feature but I'd expect one could do that and then use copy/paste in IE to make the photo show up in a post.

WOW! So it is what it is and if ya don't like it donate or try one of our many work a rounds? Again back to the original question, what about fixes? I belong to many other sites/forums that are free and it's a snap to respond too members postings and post pictures. Having to take 3 steps forward and 2 back is a waste of time and very discouraging.

Bobcat, I still agree with you, BUT I did what Jerry said.... went to FAQ and followed the directions on how to post pictures. Maybe I'm lazy and stubborn, but I want to contribute to this great site in some small way. I really enjoy it and it has helped me a lot. I opened a photobucket account, uploaded a bunch of pictures, followed the FAQ directions exactly, and hopefully below will be a picture of the back side of my 763 before I re-painted it. By the way, I use Firefox 99%. Except for this site where I use IE as I think others have mentioned the picture thing is supposed to work easier. I use XP, Vista and 7. For this I used the 7, but don't know if that means anything though!?

Other forums are run by people trying to sell you something and have ads popping up with the posts. Geoffrey is just a another Bobcat owner like the rest of us and hosts/maintains this forum to help us. You asked for improvements to the forum and I told you how that happens.
