I have a Bobcat 863 F turbo. Have been very happy with it. Curious what the reputation is on this model. I am sure there must be some opinions on it. Is there a common problem that seems to plague the 863F, a weak feature or something I should be watchful of? Thank you all.

Duetz engine, right? Timing belt maintenance (or lack there of) seems to be a common source angst with the 863. Bottom line - If you are not sure when it was last changed, it should be changed.
Try doing a seach in the forums. You will see this come up a lot.

Timing belt every 3000 hrs and do it before that. Other then that 863s are tough old goats. They are high hp, 75ish with lower lift cap, only about 2000 lbs or so. It will lift more that and has great pushing power. I'm trying to remember, early 873s had weal axle shafts that could break and I think a 863 would too. Later ones had bigger diameter shafts. This is really only a problem when running tracks. They are higher up the pain in the ass to work on scale.

Bobcatdan, any idea when they updated to a larger axle shaft on the 873?
