I picked up a project 2001 873 skid loader tired machine.

It's for 3600 hours.

Currently I'm having issues getting the parking brake to work. The machine had the assembly removed so it would just roll around and move when running unless you put the bucket down to stop it.

I checked the BICS and the only light that doesn't stay lit green is the "traction"

I replaced the solenoid and assembly but it doesn't disengage.

Replaced the relay with a known good one and it still doesn't disengage.

Now another issue possibly related, the machine will still operate with the safety bar on the up position... wheels move freely with the controls.

No flashing lights, no broken wires that I can see

Can anyone at least tell me if the machine is supposed to move around with the seat bar in the up position?

no it is not ,that is a part of the safty package, alot of machines this gets disconnected when the switches break and give trouble.

I'm not familiar with that exact model, but on older models the machines would drive with the lap bar up but you couldn't use the lift or tilt because the would be mechanically disabled with the bar up. That's why it was important to set the break and turn the machine off before getting out of it. Accidentally hitting one of the levers while getting out or back in was proven to be deadly.

I'm assuming this is what has happened.

It's gotta be fixed cause it has creep also and just moves around wherever idling. Makes it extremely difficult to load and unload on a trailer

having the brake locked on when a machine creeps will bog down the motor as its trying to move, first job is to correct the creep, once this is done you can at least load it safely and on many machines with the lap bar up it will still move with the levers

Ya right now it just grinds terribly with the brake hitting the gears I guess. Removed the assembly again.

Working on the creep hopefully just the lever adjustments out

you will have little to no success until the creep is sorted out, put machine on blocks with wheels off ground, raise cab and check other posts how to stop creep, have to adjust our 743s every now and again

hello, i have a 873 bobcat with 1100 hrs on it. i just plowed the driveway and was ready to park machine.....the traction light is blinking and wont stop when i raise or pull down the bar. I tried pressing the traction lock override button but that doesn't do anything. The machine is in lock position and won't move.
Any ideas, thoughts?
Thanks
Chris

Chris, my 863 can slip into the 'parking brake' mode.
I had to replace the parking brake solenoid.
Occasionally, the machine won't move, but only bump back and forth in the parking brake slots.
I have to slowly move the machine forward or backwards to unload the parking brake rotor slots, then the solenoid can pull the brake lever out of the slot and allow normal movement.
