I have a tr270 with bad rod bearing. The cost for overhaul parts is crazy prices like $1700 for set of -.020 rod bearings. Has anyone put a different more readily available cheaper engine in a tr270? It's probably a bad idea but thought I would ask.
Why is it a bad idea? Are you sure it's the rod bearings? Is this a diesel or gas engine and the year of it is? I come across things and if I see a good deal I will share it with you. Have you searched the web? Like Ebay and many more? Also have you tried this site? Yesterday's Tractors - Antique Tractor Headquarters Looks like they have alot of parts for older equipment.
