Tires VS. Tracks in Texas Hill Country

Hello, I was hoping to hear from some of you that may use/have used rubber tracks in the Texas Hill Country. I realized several years ago that the only tires that would actually hold up on that sharp rock was the "severe-duty" African mining tires (Galaxy Hulk L-5). Has anyone had any real luck with the rubber tracked machines?...and does anyone know if there is anything similar to a severe-duty track for these? I appreciate your time, Scott

Haven't tried tracks yet. Just bought new HD tires for the dealer and will be putting my machine though it's paces on our new property (Central Texas). I've got everything from black gumbo to rock. It will be interesting. I've been looking at the steel tracks mainly because of price and I'll be using my machine mainly in dirt. If I need to use it on concrete then I can remove them. Good luck.

Just wanted to check with you and see how your news tires are holding up out there? We have tried a set of those OTT steel chain-tracks. I felt they had enough rubber touching the ground to give good traction on solid rock and enough steel to help the tires survive the rock. They did give TONS of add traction and it was extremely clear in the mud. The steel cleats weren't thick enough to prevent constant flexing on the rocks, they ended up breaking and cracking. I doubled the thickness by welding on another 3/8" strap. Now they crack at the 90 degree bend....since I didn't double the thickness there. Still looking for input on rubber tracks in the rock...thanks
