Tilt cylinder rebuild problem

I have rebuilt one of my tilt cylinders today, during the process i heated the piston seal slightly to help stretch it over the piston and now i cannot get it to shrink and return back to shape. Anybody got any ideas? I even stuck the piston in the freezer for a few hours but it still wants to roll while inserting it into the cylinder. Any help would be appreciated.

A piston ring compressor used for installing pistons back in the bore works well. Warm the piston and install the compressor.Then put the piston in a freezer so the seal stays contracted while you put it in the bore.

I'm lazy, i have an old piston ring compressor used for engines. Wrap the piston with paper or thin cardboard then tighten it up. You can even use a large hose clamp, but you NEED the cardboard or you will damage the new seal.
Its never failed me yet.
