I have an s150 with about 860 hours. I am thinking of buying a rock hammer. I have some annoying ledge on my property and a couple pieces right in the lawn. There is an HB880 nearby for sale. I mentioned the idea to someone today and they said that a hammer will tear the hell out of the machine. Any thoughts on this? I thought about renting a hammer, but I have never used one and will likely be going slow. Therefore, it could take me several days of working here and there. My thought was I could buy the hammer and then use it over the next couple of years, here and there and then sell it again. Any thoughts or advice?

They are indeed hard on machines, i have seen pictures of machines that ran a hammer and it was covered in cracks, but i'd like to think this was due to running them for quite some time, not a few days as you plan on doing.

i wouldn't worry about that if its occasional use, if i were going to run it a lot maybe i'd buy a cheap older machine to keep your newer bobcat nice. at the end of the day, they are tools.
