Can anyone recommend a replacement for the OEM hydraulic temp sender on a 642? The OEM unit runs $130 and I don't want to pay it.

Have you checked at another Bobcat dealer? That seems very high. Is it a switch or and actual sensor with varying resistance? You would need to know the temp its meant to switch at. I am considering replacing the one on my 843 as its 20 years old and you really have no way of knowing if its still is functioning.

I know I didn't spend that much, I'm going to look up my receipts,
I found what looks like a sutiable replacement from www.egauges.com
sender, pn# 323-099, 1/2-14NPT, 217F, $24.95
gauge, pn# 310-106, $24.95
This sender has a terminal for the OEM idiot light as well as a terminal for a gauge if I decide to add one. I still need to confirm the hole in the port block is deep enough to accomodate this sender.

Check with another Bobcat dealer on line on that price. Sender for a 632 was about $30 three or four years ago. Prices do vary from dealer to dealer.

Not sure you can hook that up to the idiot light unless you know wha temp the Bobcat one switches at. BTW they may not all be the same but on my843, the hydraulic idiot light is 1) high temp 2) how pressure running 3) main filter in engine bay clogged. So if you install a gauge, thats fine, but you still need the idiot light for the pressure.
