So. Just finished a mini rebuild of my ta1919 pump rebuild. Both rotating groups were fine so I replaced all the main bearings, wafer plates, and all seals. I have the unit back together but the input shaft is hard to turn. I used Lucas assembly lube which is extremely viscous (like snot really). I know when I assembled the rotating group halfs in the housing, when I tried rotating them on the yoke the assembly lube had quite a bit of resistance making them hard to turn. So my question is how easy should it be to turn the input shaft? I re shimmed the pre load according to spec/procedure so I believe that is fine. I believe that once oil is in place it should be easier to turn. Any thoughts?

It should be hard to turn, don't forget you have pre-load springs in the rotating groups that push them against the wear/wafer plates, this is added friction. Good to hear you used good thick oil for assembly, i use grease to hold the pins for the rotating groups, but then i use oil on everything else.
