Hey guys, obverse I'm new to this forum but not new to skidsteers. I have a 09 t320 that's giving me a few issues, the bucket will drop without any weight on it, but it will stay if I curl it all the way back (or up). I was thinking internal cylinder issues but read on here (posted by tazza?) That on good cylinder would hold the bucket up. I'm wandering what part of the valve control the positioning of the bucket or arms when one is not touching the controls. This machine is total joystick. Thanks In advance

Sorry guys, I'm posting from a "smart phone" (which only makes the world dumb) and it's supposed to say obviously...

I'd still suspect seals. When you curl futher back, the load on the ram is different so it may not drop as easily.

swapout lift and tilt load checks does problem move?
How would I go about swapping it? Are you saying swap the hoses? I am going to rebuild the cylinders tomorrow anyway, its cheap and they have 2000 rough hours on em.

So, I tore into em today and man it was easier than I expected. I think the problem was the little O-ring between the piston and the shaft, there wasn't one on either one. I didn't get to mess with it after reassembly but will give her the full test tomorrow and let yall know what happens. Thanks for all the help tazza I actually have been reading your posts for a while before joing here.

I would change the filter hope the o ring does not get caught in a valve

It's on my to do list. They've been bad for a while so I'm hoping the remnants are in the filter.
What gives? Rebuilt both cylinders and the day started out great, 7 hours later, the bucket starts dropping again?

When you rebuilt the cylinders did you look to see if there was any scoring inside the barrel of the cylinder, or on the piston that might have caused your new seals to get wrecked? Or the possibility of some foreign matter in the cylinder? I would guess that since it did work for a while you did solve the original problem, but maybe not what caused the problem. I would go out on a limb and say you have damage to the machined (smooth) surface the seals glide over and caught one of your new seals and damaged the new seal.

Did you notice any damage when you pulled hte old seals out?
It does sound like you have a mark in the cylinder somewhere as it ran good for 7 hours....

I didn't see any damage on any of it. It seems to be fine until I've ran it for several hours. I did have to add about 1.5 gals of fluid today and its a little damp under the valve assembly but I can see any leaks. It's joystick and I raised the cab, cranked the engine and operated the bucket(with assistance) while laying one the center, I used a mirror and light.

No sir, it only drops after sitting for a second, either elevated or lowered and it seems to be better today? I have a new filter coming and after looking, it hasn't been changed in almost a year. This machine is owned by the man I work for and prior to me starting last September, no one took care of it. When I started it had 1300 hr on it and now has 1980 hrs. We didn't work in the last half of November and none in December due to rain, but since then I've ran it in the ground. I'm a little harder on one than most as I do clear lots with mature pines and hardwoods. When I'm not clearing lots, I'm working one 1/1 or steeper grades. There have been a few times that it's so bad we have to chain a track hoe to me with 200' of chain to pull me back up. I'm honestly thinking there a slight leak in the valve because there is a good bit of fluid under the value assembly and now where else but for the life of me I can't find the leak. I will keep yall updated as I go and I appreciate all the help I can get because I try to do all of the repairs myself.
