Replaced hydraulic fluid and filters in my T300 and ended up inadvertently letting a small plastic cap flow into the funnel and into the tank before I could stop it... What does the inside of a bobcat T300 hydraulic tank look like? Are there screens or something else that would keep the plastic from getting into a hydraulic line and stopping the flow of hydraulic fluid? Is it something I need to worry about or will it just sit in the bottom of the tank and not be a problem? Or will it float? I don't have any idea.

There should be a screen inside the filler tube to the hydraulic tank to keep debris out. You can usually get to the screen by removing the hose from the tank.

The dropped cap should not interfere unless the screen was damaged or removed in the past.

Here is a link to the parts catalog so you can take a look at the schematics that show the screen in the tank:

Thanks Bldr for the quick response.. I will check it out.. one thing I failed to mention but was going to do it on a different thread was that within a few hours of that incident the lift function on my T300 started acting up.. at first it would lift only about 3 or 4 ft and as it was lifting the bucket would tilt down.. I've let it sit for a couple of weeks now and tried it yesterday and it won't lift at. However all the other hydraulic functions seem to work just fine. The machine has about 3000 hours on it and I've really never had a problem with any of the hydraulics on it except for replacing hoses etc. I went and talked to my local Bobcat service center yesterday and they weren't much help.

If you can use a inspection camera ,I would look in that hydro tank and see if that cap can be seen and possibly retrieved, yeah it might not give you trouble but it could cause a restriction in flow which could get expensive.

Klein makes a borescope that uses your phone for the viewing screen.
I picked one up at home depot for under $65 Canadian. It works very well. I use one of my older phones
so I don't damage or dirty my good one. You simply load the app on your phone which takes only a minute.
Mine is Model ET16
