T190 rattly windows

Hi guys,

I'm sure this would be relevant to various bobcat/skid steer models but I have a Bobcat T190 which has windows that make my ear drums bleed!

I forgot ear plugs on a job a while ago and I was ready to not go near the machine again for some time by the end of the day. I wondered if there are common fixes for this - short of something like stuffing a rag between the two panes that rattle on each other.

I don't know if there are varitions with this model but I have an enclosed cab/door on front and a sliding window each side over cross hatched frame. They seem to be in a perfect harmonic resonance with the lugs on the tracks and clang away at a hideous volume while cruising.

I would think you could maybe make some silicone bumps/drops, between things , just make sure you don't glue the two together this way the glass will rest against that over ratting, I

that or maybe add some rubber insulation that has a tape on the back of one side and again stick between plates that rattle, just keep it loose enough for the glass to slide against and not pull it off
when dealing with rattles some times you have to get creative and do what ever works, might not look the best but it can be done

as for ear plugs/muffs
I personally found that I will use them more if I leave a set of Muff in the cab , I find Magnetic hooks work great to hang them on inside a cab and then are always there when using machine, so I never forget to bring them, and when not using they can be hung on the hooks and out of my way, I get the hooks cheap at harbor freight, they come in handy for other things too

I leave a set of ear muffs in all things with cabs now a days, I value my hearing more and more as I get older, something I once took for granted

The whole G series suffered with this issue. Our old t250 actually wore out the rail that held the window in. You would be driving along and the window would fall on your lap! You need to stuff something in there to prevent this from happening. Caterpillar has a snap latch that pushes the window tight against the rail to prevent it from happening. You may want to find a photo of their current machines cab and perhaps find something like they use.

I would agree with all said. Another cheap way is duct seal like play dough used for duct work tear off a chunk roll it and apply it to that spot in the track. Temp fix but it will work. An automotive window edge my be added to the glass is it comes out. And Do wear the ear protection or as years pass you won't hear them rattle at all. Or try to find ear plugs that are used for ground crews on a flight line with Jet engines that keeps out the harmfull noise but allows you to hear others as need be.
