Good morning to all. New here and let me state I am not a mechanic. I decided change the oil etc on my 763 Bobcat yesterday. I have had this since 94 so not the first time. I have never had a problem after changing the fuel filter before. So, when it did not start on the first crank, I tried again. At this point I went through the bleeding process. On the third attempt, the starter engaged then silence. The panel lights work, Key on the fuel gauge and voltage etc shows good. Turn to start (starter does not engage). and fuel gauge drops and voltage goes to about 5 volts. release the key to on and there is a blinking of lights and erratic movement of gauge needles before returning to normal. Sorry for the length, wanted to explain all. Called the dealer (recently sold to larger lco.) and an abrupt fellow says, its the battery. Its not, but I did pull it out and clean the terminals. checked the fuse with a meter and all ok. Hope someone can help. Thanks, Bob

I think there is a relay in the panel in the engine compartment that controls the starter, you might check that and see if anything looks amiss. Also, grab a manual from the manual thread, the 763 has a good electrical section with diagrams.

Thanks for reply, I did check the relay, it chatters when the starter is engaged. I thought (?) that was a good sign. Will look for the manual thread. Thanks, Bob

Don't seem to be able to find the Manual thread? Blind or--? Bob

I found the manual, one of the possible problems shown was air in the line or injectors. Question, is there an automatic engine shut down due to air or? Monday I can go and talk to a mech. but would prefer to solve this. It happened while I changed filters and oil. ?? Bob

There is not a shutdown for air in the fuel lines. the symptoms you're currently describing sounds like a dead battery. Put some jumper cables on it and see if it'll start again. Did you open your bleeder screw on the back of the fuel pump while squeezing your primer bulb?

Thanks to all who replied. And the winner is-- Dead Battery, I had jumpers on, I had a 75 amp boost, no luck. I replaced the solenoid,, and then the starter on Bobcat advise. Had a mechanic out to look at it and hooked meter and we jumped it, nothing, Then with a old deep cycle battery hooked up it almost started, Not enough power but almost. So this morning I will replace the battery. Will ad more if that does not fix but sure it will at this point. Thanks again. (they let me return the parts). Bob
